With an acceptance rate around 60%, Clemson University is a somewhat selective public university. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. You can see that most successful applicants had "B+" or higher averages, SAT scores of about 1700 or higher, and ACT composite scores of 23 or higher. The higher those numbers, the better your chance of an acceptance letter.

Note that there is some red and yellow (rejected and waitlisted students) hidden behind the green and blue -- some students with grades and test scores that were on target for Clemson did not get in. Note also that a few students were accepted with test scores and grades below the norm. This is because Clemson takes into consideration the rigor of your high school courses, your extracurricular involvement, your legacy status, and your personal comments (an optional feature on the Clemson application). A student with deep extracurricular involvement and difficult courses can get accepted with lower test scores and grades than a student who has little on the extracurricular front and academic courses that are remedial.
