ST JOHN?S, Antigua ? LIME Antigua General Manager Davidson Charles has offered the company?s congratulations to first time Premier Division champions, LIME Old Road, who captured the country?s top football prize over the weekend.

Charles branded the round-south men as being ?very committed to hard work? and said the company knew, from the onset, they were making a wise decision in partnering with the club.

?LIME Old Road has exhibited the winning spirit that we at LIME encourage and cultivate not only in our employees but in customers. We have seen a significant improvement in the team and they have been very committed to hard work,? he said.

?It was only two years since they ascended to the Premier league and we determined and decided that we should be partnering with LIME Old Road which we had seen the potential and at that time the guys appeared to be a committed group, a well respected group, and dedicated and devoted to winning, which is what LIME is about.?

Old Road were declared winners of the 2011/12 title following a 4-2 defeat to Special Security Services All Saints United at the feet of Sugar Ridge Sap on Sunday.

The defeat meant that Old Road?s 36 points is unattainable by any other team in the competition.

The Old Road men defeated Cool & Smooth Empire, 2-0, on Saturday to move onto 36 points.

Celebrations, according to Charles, are currently in the planning stages.

?We have a few planned initiatives for not only the team which we had promised them well ahead of time before the start of the competition and that promise we intend to honour where a number of the team members will receive certain gifts from LIME which you can imagine and we won?t say at this time, and secondly, there will be a celebration of course with the team and other members of the community which is being planned,? the GM said.

Old Road have won 11, lost two and drawn three of their 16 matches to date and will seek to round off their season campaign on a good note when they take on Bassa on Wednesday and Sea View Farm on Sunday.
